The National Multicultural Festival is a festival held annually each February in Canberra. Since 1980 it has been, for one weekend a year, the busiest place on the face of the earth. That is right, the busiest place on earth. What could be busier than roughly half of Canberra coming through the crowded corridor of food and alcohol in the middle of the city.
If you have claustrophobia, don’t bother. If you can’t stand smoke and heat, don’t bother. If you love food and beer…. bother! There are more exquisite varieties of food here than you will see during the rest of the year combined, just go nuts for a weekend and hit the gym an extra few times next week (or don’t because… “hitting the gym” sounds terrible). It isn’t called the #meatonastick festival for no reason.
Not to mention this music, this year Timomatic headlined the musical half of the festival, for maybe 200 drunk teenagers, that would have been great.
To summarize the experience: drink some beer, eat some meat, avoid the rest.
